The big flood in Kuala Krai was a once in a lifetime experience for many of the more mature Kraians' amongst.
It was the biggest flood ever in Kuala Krai and the majority of us were ill prepared for such an incident.
Some were very unfortunate as they lost their homes.
I remember the flood lasting about a week. I was obviously very young at the time and recall having mixed feelings looking at the flood water rising.
I remember I was using the walls of the house to mark the water level and its progress.
On the one hand there was worry when our family were ejected from our home, and like us our personal belongings were moved from one home to another. Our neighbours welcomed us with open arms and there was a huge sense of community spirit, something that would be difficult to find these days.
On the other hand, I was excited seeing some older guys showing off their swimming skills in the muddy water. I recalled most of them who were swimming seemed very happy at the time, I suppose they had their one very large swimming pool to enjoy.
Others were having their great moments of glory on rescue missions canoeing their uninsured sampans, and modified empty barrel rafts along our high streets.

Certainly an event to remember. Submitted by Dom
